 | | | | About Nordic Needlecraft...
Nordic Needlecraft is a small, family-run business situated in the north of Scotland. We specialise in Hardanger embroidery kits, many of our own design, and the necessities you need to help you stitch this beautiful form of traditional embroidery.
Our own designs are available as kits which come complete with needle, thread, fabric, chart, specific stitching instructions for the design and additional instructions for each of the stitches used.

| | | | Initially Nordic Needlecraft sold only Susan's own Hardanger embroidery designs, which were produced and marketed as kits with help from her husband, Ian. The family has strong Norwegian connections through Susan's sister who has lived and worked in Norway for over twenty years. It was during Susan's first visit to Norway that her research into this distinctive and beautiful form of embroidery began. Susan has sewn almost all her life, learning from both her father who is a highly experienced Master Tailor and kiltmaker, and from her mother, who enjoyed embroidery before arthritis struck.
We stock Perle cotton, #5, 8 & 12, Caron Wildflower & Watercolour yarns, many colours of Hardanger fabric, scissors, needles, charts, booklets & books, and so on, all for Hardanger embroiderers. However, as our business grew and became better known, customers requested other items to help with their stitching, so that Nordic Needlecraft now stocks many, many different embroidery items. We now have an ever-increasing range of thread including both DMC and Madeira stranded cotton, DMC linen and Light Effects (metallic) plus various cotton machine thread in both solid colours and variegated, as well other items for the quiltmaker. Our full range is on display at the many stitching shows we attend throughout the year.
We pride ourselves in only selling quality products and offering the very best of service. After all, as a life-time stitcher, Susan knows that we always want the things we needed yesterday! We can't manage yesterday but even by mail-order we frequently manage the day after tomorrow ! |
