Scissors

We stock a good variety of scissors for designed different purposes. Browse the list to find the one that suits you best.

To look after your scissors, wipe the blades occasionally with a cloth moistened with a very small amount of fine machine oil. Do not allow your scissors to come into contact with glue or sticky tape and only allow fabric scissors to be used on fabric. Do not use fine embroidery scissors on very heavy cloth and never snip wire or other hard materials with them as this will permanently damage the blades. Dropping the blades on their points will also damage them. If there is a screw on the handle this can be tightened if necessary but do not over tighten. Properly cared for these scissors will last for many years.

Hardanger scissors are ergonomically designed to keep your hand and wrist in better alignment when you are cutting the fabric in Hardanger embroidery. They can, of course, be used for any other type of embroidery or fine work. They are 9 cm (three and a half inches) long and are made of stainless steel.

These sharp pointed scissors are suitable for many different types of embroidery, including Hardanger. They have been designed for those who need a little more finger room in the handle. These double curved, fine pointed embroidery scissors are designed for machine embroidery. The double curve allows the fingers to be well away from the fabric while the blade of the scissors reaches over any hoop and cuts the thread tight against the machine-embroidered surface without the risk of cutting any other thread.
