This page shows our designs for the home, including two Christmas placemats.
H051 Inger Brit cushion
The fabric is ecru (natural) Hardanger, approximately 20" by 39" (50 by 100 cm). This is enough fabric for both the front and back of the finished cushion. (The cushion pad and fastening, i.e. zip, are not included.)
The embroidery is stitched mostly in ecru Perle cotton with highlights in green. The stitches used are Kloster blocks, double running stitch, double band stitch and needleweaving with dove's eyes.
Other colourways are available on request, usually at no extra cost. Please send an email to enquiries@nordicneedleraft.com to request your particular choice.
The finished size of the stitched area is approximately 14.5" square (37 cm square), making a 16" to 18" (41 to 46 cm) finished cushion cover.

H052 Flowers & Leaves cushion

H061 Hardanger doily
This is also a very traditional design.
The fabric is white Hardanger, approximately 10" square (26 cm square). Look at the table mat for details of the fabric, stitches used and colours available. The finished size of the tablecloth is approximately 9" square (23 cm square).
Two doilies along with the table mat make a traditional dressing table set.
This is a great project for someone who would like to try the edging stitch for the first time, not too big, but really impressive when finished!

H062 Hardanger table mat
This is a very traditional piece of Hardanger table linen.
The fabric is white Hardanger, approximately 20" square (50 cm square). The traditional edging and satin stitch motifs are stitched a soft mid blue Perle cotton. The Kloster blocks are sewn in matching blue variegated Perle cotton and the simple needleweaving is white.
The stitches used are Kloster blocks, satin stitch, needleweaving and buttonhole stitch (called this but really it's a blanket stitch) edging.
This kit is also available in traditional white on white and ecru on ecru.
The finished size of the tablecloth is approximately 14" square (35 cm square).

H063 Table runner
This is a very traditional piece of Hardanger table linen.
The fabric shown is mid moss green Hardanger, approximately 20" by 39" (50 by 100 cm). The traditional edging and satin stitch motifs are stitched in matching darker moss green Perle cotton. The Kloster blocks and needleweaving are sewn in a paler shade of moss green.
The stitches used are Kloster blocks, satin stitch, needleweaving with dove's eye filling stitch and buttonhole stitch (called this but really it's a blanket stitch) edging.
It is also available in white on white and ecru on ecru, the traditional Hardanger colours.
The finished size of the table runner is approximately 14" by 33" (35 by 84 cm).

H098 Candle Placemat
The charm of this Christmas holiday design lies in the combining of tradition with an up-to-date twist. The fabric is Victorian Christmas green Hardanger, approximately 16" by 20" (40 by 50 cm). The traditional cutwork edging is stitched in matching Victorian Christmas green Perle cotton with metallic gold eyelets. The large candle is mostly embroidered in ecru (cream) Perle cotton with the flame in yellow, berries in red and highlights in gold metallic thread. There is also small candle motif on the opposite side. The stitches used are Kloster blocks, satin stitch, eyelets, straight stitches, needleweaving and buttonhole stitch (called this but really it's a blanket stitch) edging.
The finished size of the placemat is approximately 16.5" by 13.5" (42 by 34.5 cm).

H099 Snowflake Placemat
This Christmas holiday design uses variations of traditional Hardanger star designs to create the impression of falling snowflakes.
The fabric is Victorian Christmas red Hardanger, approximately 16" by 20" (40 by 50 cm). The traditional edging is stitched in matching Victorian Christmas red Perle cotton with metallic silver eyelets. The snowflakes are embroidered in white Perle cotton and silver metallic thread.
The stitches used are Kloster blocks, satin stitch, eyelets, straight stitches, needleweaving and buttonhole stitch (called this but really it's a blanket stitch) edging.
The finished size of the placemat is approximately 16.5" by 13.5" (42 by 34.5 cm).
