Anchor Pearl Cottons Anchor Pearl Cottons are spun of double-combed, long staple 100% Egyptian Giza cotton.

Pearl, also called Perle cotton is used for Hardanger embroidery and is also for many other projects where a single non-divisible thread is preferred. It has a slight sheen and comes in an excellent range of colours and three thicknesses. No. 5 is used as the main thread on 22 to 25 count fabrics with no. 8 as the finer thread. On higher count fabrics no. 8 is often chosen for the Kloster blocks, etc, with no. 12 for the needleweaving.
The no. 5 skeins and no. 12 ball each contain 5 grams of thread, the no. 8 has 10g.

In addition to the many self colours there are 16 variegated shades in no. 5, some of which have matching colours in no. 8. There are also 24 Multicolour shades in no. 5, about half of which are also available in no. 8 and eight Pearl cottons with a metallic thread woven in only manufactured in no. 5.
